Quayside Shopping Centre in Sligo Town has been named All-Ireland All-Star Shopping Centre 2022-23 for the fourth year in-a-row.

The north-west business has received the exclusive accreditation once again from the All-Ireland Business Foundation (AIBF) in recognition of its ongoing contribution to excellence in retail standards on the island of Ireland.

Quayside has been praised for its conduct in the pillars of Trust, Commitment, Performance and Customer Centricity. As a result, the business has also been included in The AIBF’s Register of Irish Business Excellence (TRIBE).

Open since 2005 at Wine Street, Sligo, Quayside Shopping Centre is the largest shopping centre in the north-west, incorporating 43 retail units, including the likes of Insomnia, TK Maxx, River Island, Specsavers and Eason. As well as the 130,000 sq.ft. of retail space over four trading levels, the shopping centre also houses 12 office suites and 400 customer car parking spaces.

Business All-Star accreditation is an independently verified standard mark for indigenous businesses, based on rigorous selection criteria.

The accreditation is overseen by the prestigious All-Ireland Business Foundation, whose adjudication panel is chaired by Dr Briga Hynes of the University of Limerick and Kieran Ring, CEO of the Global Institute of Logistics.

Centre Manager at Quayside Shopping Centre, Christine Dolan, said she’s delighted to receive the honour:

“On behalf of everyone working at Quayside Shopping Centre in Sligo, I would like to express our sincere gratitude and delight at being named as All-Ireland All-Star Shopping Centre of the Year for 2022 & 2023 including receiving Business All-Star accreditation for the fourth consecutive year.”

“This accreditation gives us a great source of pride and proves once again our resilience in the retail industry. To be recognised in this manner is a huge credit to each of our retailers and is a reflection of the quality of service that they provide to customers on a daily basis.”

“We are absolutely thrilled to have been identified as Best-In-Class Irish Shopping Centre of the Year once again, and are looking forward to continuing to meet and indeed exceed the standards set by the AIBF programme.”

Deputy Chair of the Adjudication Board, Kieran Ring, praised Christine and the team in Sligo:

“This certificate verifies that Quayside Shopping Centre Sligo has achieved All-Ireland All-Star Shopping Centre 2022-2023 Accreditation, in recognition of its contribution to retail standards on the island of Ireland.”

“Opened in 2005, Quayside is the largest shopping centre in the north west with more than 130,000 sq.ft. of retail space spread over four trading levels, including the added benefit of a multi-storey car park.”

“We also wish to recognise the company’s conduct in the areas of trust, commitment, performance and customer-centricity. Quayside Shopping Centre Sligo is hereby included in The AIBF Register of Irish Business Excellence (TRIBE).”

Managing Director of the All-Ireland Business Foundation, Kapil Khanna, said the accreditation, which is now held by over 500 firms, is needed by the thousands of small and medium businesses which operate to their own standards but have nothing to measure them by.

He said: “We evaluate a company’s background, trustworthiness and performance, and we speak to customers, employees and vendors. We also anonymously approach the company as a customer and report back on the experience. The business goes through at least two interviews and is scored on every part of the process against set metrics.”

The All-Ireland Business Foundation (AIBF) is an autonomous national accreditation body tasked with enterprise development and the promotion of Best-in-Class in Irish business.

The Foundation actively engages and supports its network through peer dialogue, collaboration, mentoring and enterprise development activities. Companies are qualified for accreditation by completing an enterprise audit and are identified by their use of the AIBF’s Business All-Star Marque.
